The Solar eclipse 1 floor lamp is a unique cylindrical luminaire depicting the earth in complete darkness creating a holistic display of the developed world at night. Intrigued viewers of the luminaire find themselves absorbed in identifying illuminated locations around the world. The brightest areas of the Earth are the most urbanized, but not necessarily the most populated. Cities tend to grow along coastlines and transportation networks.
The shades and stands are all manufactured and assembled in the UK to a very high standard. The shade has approximately 15,000 holes of various sizes drilled through the shade, these accurately portray the lit world. It really has to be seen to appreciate the intricacy of the design. The end result is a stunningly detailed luminous marvel, with international appeal.
