Pots were originally used as storage containers. The stoneware ones, particularly solid, allowed for the conservation of liquids and perishable food products as well as for their maritime transport. It is therefore common to find them far from their place of origin.
They are found along the major maritime routes of merchant ships, but their geographical distribution extends far beyond the traditional ports of call because of their frequent re-use. We have several dozen in stock, from the 17th to the 20th century, from all over South-East Asia.
Whether they are made of terracotta, stoneware, glazed or not, covered with dark wabi-sabi like shades or with a magnificent water-green glaze typical of the 18th C Thai pots; you are sure to find a pot which by its evocative power, size or patina, will enhance your interior.
