Hurricane Beryl first made landfall as a Category 4 storm on Carriacou Island on the morning of July 1, 2024. With maximum sustained winds of 150 miles (240 kilometers) per hour, the storm damaged practically all of the structures on the island, affecting its entire population, according to reports.

Rough seas and air control tower outages hindered aid responses immediately after the storm. Superyacht Charities, based in the UK, brings together a full cross-section of the Superyacht industry to raise money for charitable causes.

TMD Director Ed Taylor, one of the Charity Trustees is helping to directly support the relief efforts in Carriacou (Grenada) and Petit Martinique as over 90% of homes were flattened by Hurricane Beryl. Superyacht Charities are donating from their Cash4Causes fund, but more is needed to bring temporary shelter and help with work on getting a permanent roof over families’ heads, and are seeking to raise £20,000 to match our donation and double the impact.

As time is critical, Ed, with other Trustees is heading to the island in September to support the local efforts with vital resources. Their presence will be essential in providing much-needed assistance, ensuring that the business community receives the help it needs during this urgent time to ensure it can be in a position to be ready for the tourism season, which is the main income for the island.

If you are in a position to help, no contribution is too small, and if you can please donate to this fundraiser and share it to reach a wider audience.
