Here at Pebblebed we’re proud to be one of very few producers of single estate wines in the country, with our very own winery and vineyard in one place and our hotel vineyard wines made from our own grapes. Our Head Winemaker, Alex, crafts our award-winning English sparkling wine and still wines just metres away from where the vines begin.

Unlike mass-produced wines that strive to achieve a standardised taste year on year, our hotel vineyard wines are crafted to reflect each growing season, to showcase the unique flavours of that particular year; making each batch extra special!

Thanks to its unique terroir and warmer summers, Devon is now thriving as a wine growing region. Our distinctive Gulf Steam reduces the chance of the vines being killed off by the hard and sometimes late frost the Eastern counties suffer with and the fertile red soils and mild climate provide the perfect conditions for the growing season. They help the grapes to gently ripen and preserve the wonderful fresh aromas and flavours that make English sparkling wine so special.

To craft our English sparkling wine, we use the traditional champagne method… We press the whole bunches of grapes in small batches and leave them to ferment away in cool temperatures for 3 weeks. After this, they are left to naturally clarify over the winter months, before being bottled for the second fermentation the following summer. This allows the liquids develop the complex, intense flavours that English sparkling wine is famous for.

Award-winning We were thrilled to receive three awards are the Independent English Wine Awards (IEWA) 2024; with our Sparkling White 2020 receiving silver and both our Sparkling Rose 2018 and Still White 2020 receiving bronze. The IEWA is an independent, consumer-focused English wine competition with an aim to highlight the creativity, quality, innovation and vision of producers making world-class single estate wines in England.
