The Story Behind the SNOAP Hotel Soap Dispenser
During lockdown my family of five were suddenly under one roof 24/7 for a prolonged period. I was completely shocked at the sheer amount of single use plastic we generated on a weekly basis and set out to improve the damage we were doing to our environment. I made lots of changes to minimise plastic and the only change that got a lot of negative feedback from the family (and by that take moaning!) was moving to bars of soap and shampoo. Nobody liked sharing, there was gunky mess by the sinks and showers and nobody would own up to the inevitable hair that was always lurking….
I really didn’t want to revert to liquid bottles when I read that the UK alone goes through a staggering 1.8 billion single use plastic bottles of hand wash, shower gel and shampoo every year and that doesn’t even include commercial premises!
I wanted all of the environmental benefits of solid soap and shampoo plus the convenience of liquid dispense but I couldn’t find anything on the market so I invented SNOAP – a revolutionary solid soap & shampoo dispenser!
Along my journey to develop the SNOAP hotel soap dispenser, born of an original desire to reduce single use plastic, I also discovered that sustainable solid shampoo bars have less than 10% the carbon footprint of liquid wash, it is real soap and therefore kinder to your skin as opposed to detergent based hand wash and shower gels and with the super-efficient powder you get from SNOAP there is a huge saving over using liquid.
