Shepherd’s Biscuits Ltd was founded by husband and wife James and Natasha Shepherd in 2013. Since then, the company has won numerous awards for quality and innovation and their North Wales bakery holds SALSA accreditation.
James was named Welsh Food & Drink Entrepreneur 2015 and Shepherd’s Biscuits LTD won Ambient Food Manufacturer of the Year in the Food Awards Wales 2015.
There are now more than 10 people employed at their bakery producing a range of luxury biscuits, with their Traditional Aberffraw biscuit winning a Great Taste Award in 2015 and the Lemon Aberffraw in 2017.

Aberffraw biscuits are Britain’s oldest biscuit recipe, dating to the 12th Century.
Our Aberffraw luxury biscuits for hotels come in a range of five flavours and are available to retail and foodservice. The range has won six Great Taste Awards.Legend has it that centuries ago a Welsh king was holding court in Aberffraw (pronounced A-ber-fro) on Anglesey, North Wales. His wife was walking on the beach there and, seeing a pretty scallop shell, had a cake baked in its shape. However, the true origin of the biscuit is the famous Christian pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. It is thought that in about the 12th Century, pilgrims began pressing shortbread biscuits with scallop shells collected from their journey.The range of five flavours has won Great Taste Awards over the past years. Our luxurious Aberffraw handmade hotel biscuits remain as true as possible to the originals… made with quality ingredients and no artificial flavourings or preservatives.
The Shepherd’s Welsh Biscuits range is inspired by the history and landscape of Wales. Using the best ingredients we created a range of handmade hotel biscuits capturing that essence. Living in beautiful North Wales we want to do what we can to protect the planet for future generations. So we have updated our ingredients and packaging, so we now only use RSPO Certified Segregated palm oil, we have reduced the amount of plastic packaging by more than 50% and we seal our biscuits in 2s keeping them fresher for longer, reducing food waste. The Shepherd’s Welsh bespoke hotel biscuits range is vegan-friendly.
