Take a breather. Before the kids go back to school and summer temperatures lower with the onset of fall, spare some time to savor. Enjoy the warmth! Have a picnic, take a hike, ask for two scoops of ice cream, and just generally appreciate what’s left of the season. And, if you have not yet had a holiday break, this is your friendly reminder to make plans with family and friends to enjoy the last bits of summer.
While we are taking some much-needed holiday time ourselves this August, there are a lot of exciting new things happening at Manduka! We are going to keep it short for now, after all, we still to need to finish packing and head out for our fabulous week away…
Last month, we talked about the importance of a yoga towel while practicing in high temperatures and high humidity, whether outdoors or inside, perhaps in a heated studio. Quick-drying performance towels add a level of comfort by reducing the amount of slip on the mat due to moisture by absorbing sweat from the body. This is one way to keep the mat dry in these types of conditions.
The other approach is to consider the type of yoga mat. Manduka’s wide range of performance mats includes several options for warm weather and strenuous practice. But we know that, in a hotel context, it is important for a mat to be thoroughly cleaned for each guest. Our GRP mats are wonderful for absorbing sweat and so are ideal for personal use, but for retreats and hotels, a mat that can be refreshed hygienically after each session is a must.
Enter the newest mat in the Manduka collection, the Shala Yoga Rug. It is a machine-washable, foldable, lightweight yoga mat, hand-loomed from pre-consumer cotton apparel scraps. Just as handy practicing poolside as it is on a sandy beach or grassy park, for resorts that are in a hot climate and have opportunities for outdoor yoga, Shala could be an option.
The Shala Yoga Rug was introduced in a classic black and white weave, but Manduka has recently added two new hues alongside fresh new colors throughout the collection. Many of these on-trend colors are available for cobranding, so we can curate a cohesive selection that fits your hotel design and guests’ needs.
