John Davies Framing – Pillow Louis XIV

This style of frame has been used extensively to house the works of the finest Impressionist artists, but would also suit a mirror to add a touch of elegance.

Carved in lime wood on a pine base the frame is gessoed and gilded in the traditional manner using 23.75 carat gold leaf. It can be toned and distressed to any finish desired, and can be made with or without a contrasting slip, an example of which is shown in this image. The frame can be made to any size, subject to a minimum profile width of 6cm excluding any slip.
