Always looking ahead, Manduka is constantly watching for new developments in the wellness and fitness space so when we heard about a group that successfully melds mindful movement with community, we knew we wanted to work with them. We connected just a few months ago and the synergy between the brands was mutual. Today we’d like to introduce you to our newest partner, Sanctum.
Sanctum is, in their words, “a holistic moving sequence rooted in multidisciplinary forms of kundalini yoga, martial arts, animalistic flow, breath work and primal fitness.” It was created to be a transformational experience, one that is elevated by community, music, and other sensory input. Founders Luuk Melisse and Gabriel Olszewski have honed the specific techniques and composition of this revolutionary practice since its beginnings in 2020. It’s their leadership and vision at the heart of Sanctum’s rapid growth and expansion but also what keeps the group feeling like a special intimate tribe or family.
Set in some of the most amazing locations, which include gothic churches, beachside resorts and retrofitted industrial buildings, the experience is like nothing else. Part rave, part HIIT class, part meditation—it’s an instant community of people moving and meditating in an atmosphere that is nothing less than electric.
Gab and Luuk are seeking to create a “global mindful movement” and one that “unlocks human potential” through stimulating moving sequences. Manduka has always sought to both inspire practice in all its forms and to enable a more joyful, communal experience and because of this, Sanctum is the perfect match.
Sanctum is currently leading events and weekly classes including annual festivals in Amsterdam and London and are set to launch in other European cities this year. By the end of 2024, they will have produced over one hundred consumer events as well as private, hotel and corporate retreats with most being completely sold out well in advance. Their recent High Frequency Festival attracted a crowd of 1000 plus people to the Gashouder Amsterdam. The attendees, many of whom were new to Sanctum, were treated to a shamanic cleanse, breath work, and special music performances in addition to the physical sequences.
At all of these events and festivals the Manduka PROlite® yoga mat in Black Sage is the literal foundation. Each participant moves through class—in seated and standing exercises—with the dense support of one of our most well-known and loved performance products. A special cobranded logo in Sanctum’s signature bronze color was developed for the partnership and applied to the corner of each mat.
Both Manduka and Sanctum are looking forward to seeing what else grows from the partnership. Through the expansion to new locations and the addition of other harmonious organizations to the team, both brands desire to inspire more mindful awareness, more holistic wellness and more love in the world.
