Talk to me about how and when the business was founded.
Inwerk was founded as a GmbH by Dipl.-Ing. Jens Hohenbild and Dipl.-Päd. Bernd Klingelhöfer in 2001. Managing directors are Jan Kegelberg and David Weidemann.
Inwerk is located in Meerbusch near Düsseldorf as the main seat and in Biebertal near Gießen.
What was the inspiration/concept behind the company?
The concept was aimed at the B2B distribution of professional office furnitures as well as all services for furnishing projects in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Netherlands.
The distribution takes place via multichannel sales combining internet and large exhibitions. In the course of the progressive digitization and the implementation of new forms of work we focus our development goals on systems and products that help shape the changes in the office working world with future-oriented, flexible systems, products and technologies. That’s why we define our guideline as „Shaping flexibility“. In addition to our own product range we offer the products of more than 100 European manufacturers.
What sets you apart from your competitors?
We differentiate ourselves from many competitors through developing innovative, design-oriented and ergonomic systems and products – including extensive planning and other services. For this, our company and our products have already been awarded many innovation and design prizes (e. g. Innovationspreis Top 100, Red Dot Award, iF Design Award, German Design Award, Stahl-Innovationspreis). We also distinguish ourselves by a complete range of office furnitures with a market-wide favorable price-performance ratio. We operate the two largest office furniture exhibitions in Germany with 3.500 or 2.500 square meters where our customers and visitors can get to know our offer authentically.
How has the company grown since its launch?
Our company increased its turnover every year, even with a declining market. To date we have served more than 400.000 customers.
What would you say has been one of your proudest moments for the company thus far?
There were many moments when we were proud of our company. In addition to many awards one event stands out: In 2021 we opened our new company building “LAB-3” in Biebertal where our customers get to know a world of experience that presents them with authentic solutions for the successful practise of New Work.
