What core values and principles guide your company’s operations and approach to glass and mirror installations?
Our mission is to exceed our clients’ expectations by mirroring quality products with outstanding customer service. As a fifth-generation family business with a history that spans over 100 years, J. Preedy & Sons’ strength has always been in constantly improving the quality and range of services and developing innovative products for all our customers, regardless of the sector they work in. This combination of skills and cutting-edge technology allows our dedicated staff to produce a wide range of bespoke glass products to meet your precise needs
What trends are currently shaping the glass and mirror installation industry, particularly in the hospitality sector, and how is Preedy Glass adapting to these trends?
The shift towards sustainable practices is shaping trends in both the commercial and residential sector. Preedy Glass are continually aiming to reduce their carbon footprint. In particular, they have combined the demand for stylish design products with environmentally-friendly practices, introducing a ‘Sintered Crystal’ recycled glass range; an innovative product made from 100% recycled glass bottles with no resin or adhesives used. This provides an excellent alternative to marble, granite, quartz, glass and porcelain. Applications are endless including worktops, splash backs, table tops and wall cladding among others. The panels can also be backlit to give that extra ‘Wow Factor’.
Could you provide an example of a client project that you are particularly proud of and why?
Preedy Glass pride themselves on their ability to supply bespoke products tailored to their customer’s needs. The Randolph Hotel in Oxford approached Preedy Glass to design, supply and install a bespoke stained glass Crittall screen with an Alice in Wonderland design. Lewis Carroll was a frequent guest of the hotel and they wished to keep that history alive with touches throughout the hotel. Inspiration for the design was taken from the book illustrations which were then modified to fit into our screen dimensions and to include all the elements the client team requested. Such as the white rabbit which was not originally in the scene. Each panel was then handcrafted by our specialist team and installed into the bespoke Crittall frame. We have produced leaded lights since we were established in 1913 with our work going into some of the world’s most prestigious hotels and restaurants.. We produce traditional designs as well as more modern, abstract work which allows us to perfectly match the characteristics of your hotel. Stained glass can be used in doors, windows, partitions and ceilings to fill the space with diffused, colourful light. Stained glass can subtly change the atmosphere in the room depending on the time of day, light conditions and the changing of the seasons.
What are your long-term goals for Preedy Glass, and what strategies are you employing to achieve them?
Preedy Glass have traditionally focused on bespoke manufacturing, however, we have recently introduced a range of hand-crafted mirror and glass products designed specifically for the hotel sector. These include handcrafted kiln formed, Wooden framed and LED integrated mirrors, furniture pieces and other room accessories. Due to the fast paced nature of hotel projects there is often not the time or budget to design bespoke pieces for each project. By offering these high-end, designed pieces which can be easily purchased on our website, we hope to save hotel operators and contractors time throughout the entire process. Each item is then made to order and delivered. However, should you have bespoke requirements the products can be tailored your specific size, finish and functionality. Minimum order quantities may apply.
