In 1992, my discovery of the hammock transformed my world. After traversing continents like Ecuador, Peru, Europe, and Africa, I craved more exploration in South America’s rainforests. Ground sleeping was out of the question, so I delved into the realm of hammocks, a decision that would shape my destiny.
Crafting the perfect hammock wasn’t easy. I needed rain cover, mosquito netting, and portability, but existing options fell short. So, I took matters into my own hands, enlisting the expertise of the Huaorani tribe to fashion a superior hammock. Yet, my early attempts left me with back pain and mosquito bites, until my native guides schooled me in the art of hammock hanging.
Back in Germany, I didn’t just leave my hammock behind—I turned it into a thriving business. With determination and passion, I introduced AMAZONAS hammocks to the market, sparking a global sensation. My ambition led me to establish a hammock weaving mill in Brazil, where I honed my craft alongside traditional artisans.
Through decades of dedication and innovation, my dream became a reality. Today, our hammocks grace homes worldwide, a testament to quality and expertise. With a dedicated team by my side, we continue to push boundaries and refine our products.
