Could you provide us with an overview of Washbot’s sustainable smart toilet and the inspiration behind its development?
I personally lived in Asia for 16 years – in Japan and Korea, something approaching 90% of homes have Smart Toilets installed. According to the travel website Ctrip, 33% of 4 and 5 star hotels in Shanghai have Smart Toilets! When I came back to the UK, I was surprised to see that Smart Toilets are not so popular. Our research has shown that pricing is a large obstacles for consumers, so Washbot decided to bring to market our range of elegantly styled, yet affordable Smart Toilets.
What are the key features and functionalities that set Washbot’s smart toilet apart from traditional sanitation solutions?
Compared with a traditional toilet and bidet suite, there are many more features in addition to the simple washing function. These include the heated seat, air drying and night light. From the point of view of hotel guestrooms, a Smart Toilet will also have a smaller physical footprint in a bathroom, creating a greater feeling of space. Also there is only one unit to be plumbed in, instead of two. In some instances, there can also be compliance issues with douches, whereas Washbot have both KUKReg4 and WRAS certification.
How does Washbot ensure user convenience and hygiene without compromising on sustainability goals?
The hygiene aspect is a great point – washing with water is more hygienic than toilet paper alone, and indeed is the norm in many cultures worldwide. From a sustainability point of view, whilst smart toilets will inevitably increase electricity and water usage a little, the Washbot warm air drying function helps reduce toilet paper consumption.
Could you share any success stories or testimonials from users who have adopted Washbot’s smart toilet in their facilities?
We have just had our first installation in Belgium, so that is nice to start exploring new markets.
Looking ahead, what are Washbot’s plans for further enhancing its smart toilet technology and expanding its adoption globally?
We have really just started our journey, so it is a bit early to talk about world domination! In terms of new product development we have several ideas we are working on with our engineering team so watch this space!
