How do you handle waste or unused products in your manufacturing process?

At Bamboovement, we aim to minimize waste at every stage of production. If possible, we even upcycle materials into new products. A great example is the biocomposite used in our razors, made from upcycled wood waste from the Swedish timber industry. That way, we turn discarded materials into high-quality, sustainable amenities.

Can you share any data or insights on the reduction of plastic waste due to your products’ adoption?

While we supply many boutique hotels, the greatest impact of our amenities comes from airlines’ adoption of our toothbrushes and dental kits. Each year, we deliver over 1.5 million toothbrushes to the amenity industry. By replacing 10 grams of plastic with each bamboo toothbrush, we prevent over 15.000 kg of plastic waste annually, significantly reducing single-use plastic in travel and hospitality.

How does your team engage with environmental organizations or initiatives beyond tree planting?

Sustainability at Bamboovement goes beyond just tree planting. We partner with ClimatePartner to offset emissions by supporting verified climate projects like Plastic Bank. This Canadian NGO empowers communities to collect and recycle ocean-bound plastic waste, creating environmental and social impacts.

Do you believe there are misconceptions in the hospitality sector about sustainable products, and how do you address them?

One common misconception is that sustainability always comes at a high cost. While some premium products are priced higher, many eco-friendly alternatives, like our amenity kits, are competitively priced without compromising quality.

Even when natural products are slightly more expensive, the hidden marketing value of sustainability is often overlooked. Today’s guests increasingly expect eco-conscious choices. Offering sustainable amenities doesn’t just meet this demand; it creates a positive, lasting impression, strengthening guest loyalty and brand reputation. Thoughtfully designed amenities enhance the guest experience and contribute to long-term success in hospitality.
