How does your location in Devon influence your brand ethos, sourcing, or production culture?

We love being based in the heart of Devon and extremely proud, it is central to our whole community, our employees, and our customers.  We use hand teased Dartmoor wool in all our beds, and this is sourced on our doorstep, directly from the family farm.  This we find resonates extremely well with all our customers as it is traceable, but it is also extremely soft and helps us to regulate our temperature at night providing blissful sleep.  We also try and source as many components as possible in Devon to keep the carbon footprint down and we all approve of shopping locally.  The factory employees are all on board with our values and our brand is characterised by the county we live in.

How do you approach the sustainability of your packaging and logistics in addition to the products themselves?

We are always looking at the best way of packaging, it is always a challenge as we need something as important as a mattress and bed to arrive in pristine condition.  We are part of the National Bedding Federation and as members, it is great to be involved with the latest ideas and eco-friendly solutions. We will always look for the best sustainable packaging and filling vans for the transport of our products with no waste is top of the agenda in the logistics department! Cost to us and cost to the environment is then balanced.

In what ways do you measure the long-term performance or satisfaction of your beds post-installation?

Many of our beds are sold B2B and then onto the customer, so the relationship is with the retailer, however we always encourage feedback via our customer service procedures, we also test all our products for longevity so that we are confident they will last the test of time.  Your bed is the most widely used piece of furniture in our homes and hotels, so it is important that we continue to follow up with effective communication and guidance showing how to look after your bed and keep it in tip top condition.

Looking ahead, how do you see the hospitality sleep experience evolving in the next 5–10 years – and how is Enchanted House preparing for that?

We would hope that excellent quality hotels look at feedback from customers to ensure that the central piece of furniture where the customer is going to spend the most time is of the highest quality they can afford to ensure that the customer returns repeatedly.  Feedback and the customer experience is highly valued, and we are set up to deliver the best sleep of your life! In the past we have seen some hotels spend extraordinarily little on the mattress, so understanding the value of providing quality rest is what we are about.  We say invest in the best as it always pays off!
