Dedon was founded by Bobby Dekeyser in Munich in 1990, using a special fibre developed in the family industrial plastics business, and adapting this material to create a style of outdoor furniture that was to prove revolutionary throughout the industry.
By 2000, Dedon had set up its own dedicated factory in Cebu in the Philippines, with skilled artisans hand crafting the Dedon fibre now being produced at the company’s headquarters in Lüneburg, near Hamburg. The woven fabric is then used in the daringly sophisticated silhouettes and stunning signature pieces for which the company is recognised today. Maintaining its ecological credentials, Dedon fabric is also 100% recyclable and toxin-free.
In just twenty years, Dedon has evolved from a small family business to an international trendsetter in outdoor furniture. In Dedon’s outdoor living lab, furniture designed for relaxation is created, and in its time, Dedon has commissioned renowned designers such as Richard Frinier, Frank Ligthart, Philippe Starck and Jean Marie Massaud. Although it has grown exponentially, from a team of three to a workforce of 3000, a dedication to craft and a vision for cutting-edge design remain central to the Dedon brand. This, coupled with stringent standards in every single step of production, ensures the quality of Dedon’s products. Dedon’s award-winning furniture is now sold in more than 80 countries worldwide, and Leisure Plan is delighted to exclusively distribute Dedon products in the UK. |
