When an older hotel in Florida underwent an extensive renovation recently, upgraded lighting played a starring role in the transformation. Built in 1965, the hotel’s old bones found new life in the lobby and business center.

“Our team wanted to celebrate the property’s midcentury roots with a lively, boho beach feel,” says Angela Reed, senior associate with Baker Barrios Architects, Inc. “The interior is eclectic, colorful, and attainable for guests looking for a family-friendly property.” Angela searched for new lighting for these public spaces that was colorful and easy to customize.

“We wanted energetic, yet soft, colors for the fixtures,” she explains. Thanks to Barn Light Electric’s extensive palette of finishes, Angela found the perfect blend of playful color and energy.

She selected the Downtown Minimalist 5-Light Chandelier in a lively Watermelon finish to highlight the renovated front desk area and welcome visitors with a fun, unique look. To complement these chandeliers, Angela added the Bubble Stem Mount Pendant Light. She customized these midcentury-style ceiling lights with White glass and a Mint finish. This glass style softens the illumination, reduces glare, and imbues the space with warmth.

For the nearby business center, the same combination of pendants adds a happy and relaxed vibe for those who must keep up with work while staying at the hotel.

“The colors are so bright and fresh,” Angela says. “These fixtures fit the concept of the space beautifully!”
